20 Days Till Heaven…Day 2 – Do You Kiss Me, Co-Pays, Pinterest, and Scans

Memories from October 17th, 2016 – Day 2

This day started off much like any other morning. We spoke on the phone several times throughout this day, two times during the morning. She surprisingly told me that she was feeling well. She did however say that her nose was stuffy and that she needed some water.

I made mention of buying her a surprise for after work and she asked me if I got it out of a vending machine. I was often famous for telling her that I had a surprise for her and it would be a Kit-Kat or something of that nature. She wasn’t wrong for assuming that again, but it was not the case today according to my response on the call.

Also this morning I had discovered Pinterest for the first time and was having trouble understanding the point of it. She helped me out and told me what it was. We finished up the call by her telling me that it would be 80 degrees for the next three days. I didn’t believe her and had to check for myself. She asked me why I never believed her and then gave a stern reminder that she was always right.

A little while later she would text me this. Sorry that it’s mushy.

She would also want to know if I kiss her before I go to work…(Don’t mind the grammar, I would always use voice text and it never came out right)

I tried my best to impress her with my new Pinterest skills also and text this to her.

The next few calls later on in the day she was almost in tears because she had been arguing with the billing department about the hospital co-pay bill that came in the mail. She wasn’t challenging them, but she just wanted the bill explained to her because she couldn’t make sense of them. The best that I could make out of the situation was that if you are in the same exam room and three different doctors come into the that room, you are charged with three co-pays. Another example she gave was that if you have blood drawn and chemotherapy in the same visit it was also two different co-pays. Needless to say she wasn’t happy with it, but what can you do?

A little while later she called to remind me that she had scans today to check on the progress of the chemotherapy and cancer growth.

I later made the cardinal sin of asking what she had for breakfast and lunch. Why was asking this such a bad thing you may ask? I forgot that you had to fast before a scan, accidentally bringing up food wasn’t the best idea. I asked her if I should come join her and she insisted that she was OK.

She called again after her scan was over and was really upset. She told me that she had to lay down flat for the scan. She had not laid down flat on her back for a few months because of the difficulties breathing. It frightened her pretty bad. She told me that she was going to pick up Regan from the bus stop since she was on the way home.

Not much else to this day that I can recall or dig up except for one more message that I sent her from the basement while hanging out with the boys before bed time. (sorry for voice text grammar again)

She made me happy, and I always tried to remember to give her all the credit with the success of where we were as a family. I figured tonight, after a rough day, she needed to know that again.

Day 8 – PIGGYBACKS, CHEER SUPPORT, VISITS, AND ITALIAN WEDDING SOUP

Day 9 – SPREADING GERMS, CINNAMON TOAST, AND LILLY PULITZER

Day 10 – IF YOU HAVE A BAD DAY…PRAY

Day 11 – SETTING THE STAGE, URN EMOJI, AND CHECK YOURSELF
