20 Days Till Heaven…Day 17 – Hold My Hand, Crafts, and Last Picture Of Her
Memories from November 1st, 2016 – Day 17
Not a whole lot to share or remember from this day, just a few things. We only had one call saved. It’s the day after she made it out of the house for the last time. I believe today to be a good day. She was still tired as a good night sleep is hard to come by, but she continues to push through, spending time with the kids and doing the best that she can.
I don’t have a good morning call recorded or maybe it didn’t survive for whatever reason. I have a text from her in the morning and then I sent her one later letting her know to call me when she woke up for the 2nd time.
She sent me this when I was on my way home. Out of everything that she could have ever asked for at any given time it was always just a hug or a hold that she wanted. While writing this 20 day series, I have seen it several times, never picking up on how often she asked for this before. Felt a little nostalgic as I found this one today.
When she heard me walk in, she sent me this one. Again asking for the same thing along with some of her medicine to ease some of the pain.
A little time passed and by looking at the timing of the gap I am again going to assume it was nap time, but I could be wrong. I don’t really have much to go on.
Later after dinner we would open up a craft that I believe Pierce got in his Halloween basket the night before. Pierce would paint, and his pretty Mama would watch along.
A few days ago I posted the last picture that we took together. Those last two pictures above would be that last picture that I ever took of her.
Only one last text for the night, I told her to call me. I cant remember why, but I was sent to the laundromat to wash and dry the comforter for our bed. I don’t remember what happened to it or if someone spilled something, but it was a king size and too big for our washer and dryer.
This is the only call that I have saved for the day. It was when I was at the laundromat just telling her that I needed to add two more quarters because it wasn’t dry yet.
Here is an audio clip of that call.
There’s one last story that I am a little leery and skeptical about sharing. I only say that I have reservations about sharing it because I am not a huge believer in crazy things happening. I’m not saying that they can’t or won’t, but I’m just not of that mindset. If you ever try to tell me a crazy story about moving figures or apparitions, I probably won’t ever look at you the same again. Also, if anything in life ever did personally happen to me that was out of the ordinary, I would probably keep it to myself anyway.
This one involved the kids however and if they read this one day, it will be a reminder to them of something that Regan shared with me, that’s the only reason.
She would tell me this night that she believed someone or something was in the boys room with them. Regan has never been a child to make up anything absurd or outlandish so I do carry this story as a memory instead of totally disregarding it.
Long story short she said that as she was playing in the boys room with them before bed time, Grantley started waving and talking to his chair as if someone was sitting in it. She said that he started waving and saying hi to the chair and then walked over to it. She said he patted the arm of the chair and then started laughing and giggling. If anything raised my attention about the story, it would be that he was still only a one year old and as you know he didn’t talk much except when he was prompted. So maybe there is something to this story and maybe there is not. Just wanted to add it. Regan’s own personal opinion when she tells the story is that if it was someone that maybe it was Kate’s Mom.
Anyway, after I had got back from the laundromat, we made the bed and spent sometime together as we usually would. Just talking, sharing, loving, and praying. Nothing else to the night that I can remember.
