20 Days Till Heaven…Day 1 – I’ll Try Not To Scare You and Yellow Cheese

This is the 1st post in what I guess you could call a small blog series.  I really have no idea what you would call it, but I am going to be sharing just some little details about the days leading up to November 4th.  When I first wanted to start a blog this was the one thing that I wanted to do the most.

We cheated a little in creating memories and saving the time that we had together by using the technology available to us.  In August of 2016 we downloaded an app to record all of our calls and we were able to capture almost 500 of our last calls, we made a ton of videos, she wrote in journals, and of course we had the great technology of Facebook and text messaging to record our conversations and memories.

Memories from October 16th, 2016 – Day 1

From what I can tell not too much went on this day.  It was a Sunday so I am assuming there was probably a Ravens game on at some point.  For the most part probably just enjoying each others presence and hanging out with the kiddos.

One of the best messages I received came through this day.

Kate: I wish there was a stronger phrase then “I love you.”  Before it felt so easy to say and like it encompassed my feelings for you, I simply loved you.  Now, with everything we have been through and how you have exemplified our wedding vows “I love you” just doesn’t seem like enough.  I hope you never forget or question how much I love you, appreciate you, adore you, how sexy you are, how giving you are, how amazing you are, and how much I will ALWAYS be with you.  I’ll try not to startle you 😉  I love you and will love you forever and ever.

Me: Thank you mama.  Means a whole lot.

Me: Oh and what do you mean startle me?

Kate: Like when I’m dead I’ll try not to sneak up on you.

Kate: But sometimes I might have to, to be funny.

Now, I am pretty sure that she was not on any medication at the time, so I am only assuming that she was honest when she said all of those nice things about me.  But, the dark humor, which she was always so clever with, was right up her alley.  I am pretty sure that she was well aware that I would welcome any and all scares if she was given the chance.

Looks like a few minutes later we talking about the Ravens and Dennis Pitta being injured again.

I listened to our calls from that day also.  Its looks like we only spoke twice because it was a Sunday and we were both at home together, so there was really no reason to call each other.  The two calls that we did have were because I was sent to the store.  I was sent to the store because she wanted some cheese and mustard.  Regan tagged along.

Now I could have just went and picked up some yellow american cheese and regular mustard like her instructions called for.  According to the calls it turns out that when I got there I wanted to impress her by getting her some fancy cheese and fancy mustard.  The problem was that I needed to call to make sure that she would like my choice of premium cheese and mustard for her.  Otherwise I would have been sent back.

According to the call, I offered to buy her a more fancy cheese than just the yellow american which she wanted.  I offered to buy Pepper-Jack, Colby, Colby-Jack, Provolone, Mozzarella, Havarti, Gruyere, Lamberton, Irish cheddar, Fontina, Sharp Cheddar with nuts, Goat cheese crumbles, Cypress, Feta, Balsamic Bellavitano, Mediterranean Gouda, Marbled, Expresso, Asiago Fresco, Parmesan Cheese.  She responded with, “No, I mean I just like plain stuff.”

Here is an audio clip of that call.

I would then annoy her with a 2nd call moments later.  This time to check on the type of mustard.  I offered to get sweet and hot, yellow, spicy brown, and honey mustard before I was cut off and asked just to bring home regular mustard.

Failed again at my attempts to impress.

Anyway…back at home, sliced up some cheese and mustard, served it up to her in bed.
